Who We Are
Description: |
The Gathering Place is the only day program in Sheboygan County with an innovative approach exclusively for people with memory loss. Our program is designed to provide respite for the caregiver and at the same time fully engage their loved one in our vibrant social model program. We are committed to providing a therapeutic strength-based program. Trained, experienced staff and volunteers will provide a structured environment and planned activities to facilitate quality of life for participants, with a goal of relieving stress and maintaining care at home as long as possible. |
What We Do
Mission: |
The Mission of The Gathering Place: "Sharing (Christ's) love" by providing a safe place for people with dementia and offering caregivers respite, education and encouragement. |
History: |
After over a year of planning, the first day of The Gathering Place opened in April of 2008, the following year a second day was added in 2009 and with the help of more volunteers we were able to open our third day in December of 2011. We are located in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls as an outreach mission of the church and are currently open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in Sheboygan Falls and Wednesdays at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. We have different programing at both locations from 9:30-3:30 each day that we are open, so each day is unique. |
