Girl Scouts of Manitou Council

Girl Scout Mission:  Building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

In Girl Scouts, girls develop their leadership potential through activities that enable them to discover their values, skills, and the world around them; connect with others in a multicultural environment; and take action to make a difference in the world.

Girl Scouts offers unique  opportunities for girls to

• to go on journeys that build courage,
• to succeed at new activities that build  confidence,
• to give service to their community  that builds a life-long a spirit of generosity.

Girl  Scouting offers a wide array of activities so that when someone inquires of our Girl Scouts, “What did you do today?” the  answer will be an inspiring mix of fun and purpose.

Girl  Scouts of Manitou is the largest girl-serving organization in the Lake Michigan  western shoreline area.  One in every  three girls in every elementary school in the council is a Girl Scout – 5,500  Girl Scouts in all or parts of the counties of Calumet, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc,  Ozaukee, Sheboygan, and Washington.  More  than half of those elementary aged Girl Scouts then continue in Girl Scouting  through their middle school and high school years. All these Girl Scouts are  guided by more than 1,600 adult members of the Girl Scouts of Manitou Council.

Founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912. Girl Scouts of the USA was chartered by the United States Congress on March 16, 1950. Today, there are 2.8 million Girl Scouts: 2 million girl members and 800,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers.
