WOOF! MEOW! Looking for volunteers willing to share their time and certified pet with our hospice patients. The power of pets to connect with others amazes and touches everyone around us. Let the magic happen and spread cheer, joy and smiles! Pets must be certified! Schedules are flexible and orientation/training is provided!

Our Hospice patients light up when they see a furry friend walk through the door. These visits can provide emotional support, reduce anxiety, and bring joy to those facing life's final journey.

What you'll do:

Visit hospice patients in their homes or care facilities.Offer companionship, smiles, and comfort through your pet's presence.Work alongside the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule visits that fit your availability.

Requirements:

Must be 18 years or olderPets must be certified therapy animals through an approved organization such as: Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs Inc, Alliance of Therapy Dogs, or another recognized program.Must provide proof of current vaccinations for petHospice experience (preferred, not required)Must pass a background checkMust have a negative TB test resultReliable, compassionate, and dependableMust provide TWO referencesComfortable speaking with patients and families by phone and in personDetail-oriented with a professional attitude

As a volunteer, you will visit patients facing life-limiting illnesses to provide emotional support and companionship. Your presence can make a world of difference---offering comfort, reducing loneliness, and creating moments of joy.

Volunteer activities may include:

•            Engaging in conversation and active listening

•            Reading aloud, playing music, or sharing hobbies

•            Sitting quietly as a comforting presence

•            Offering respite to family caregivers

Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling---visits are typically 1-2 hours per week, based on your availability. 

Training & Support: All volunteers receive comprehensive hospice training and ongoing support from our care team. No medical experience is required.

Requirements:
