Battle Buckthorn Around Mauthe Lake

Description

Buckthorn is a non-native shrubby tree that can quickly takeover a natural community. Help is needed to battle this invasive species on the Tamarack Trail that goes around Mauthe Lake within the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit. We will meet at the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area boat launch parking lot. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, gloves and hat. Some of the areas are bit low, so waterproof boots would be helpful. To protect against biting bugs, tuck your pants into your socks and bring insect repellant. Remember to bring drinking water and long-handled pruning shears if you have some.
