Buckthorn is a non-native shrubby tree that can quickly takeover a natural community. Help is needed to battle this invasive species in the Haskell Noyes State Natural Area within the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit. We will meet at the small parking lot off County Road GGG just south of County Road SS near New Prospect. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, gloves and hat. To protect against biting bugs, tuck your pants into your socks and bring insect repellant. Remember to bring drinking water and long-handled pruning shears if you have some.

The Leaf Stomp is the largest fundraising event for the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. This non-competitive hike traverses the Ice Age National Scenic Trail through the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit. Participants choose from one of four routes: 5-mile, 10-mile, 15-mile, or 22-mile. The Friends hope to reach their maximum of 700 hikers. Volunteers are needed to help with early morning registration, refreshment stands, road crossings, cheering on hikers, and the finish line activities.

GEN-T Tech Help at Generations Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for volunteers (ages 15+) to assist with both group talks and one-on-one tech help sessions.

Helping with basic tasks like setting up apps, navigating the internet, connecting to Wi-Fi, and more.
Working alongside a paid program staff member who will provide support for more advanced or challenging questions.
Contributing your problem-solving skills to help those who may feel intimidated by technology.
No tech expertise required! If you know how to operate a phone or laptop and are willing to learn, you're perfect for this role. Most of the questions are simple for someone familiar with technology, and if you’re unsure, the staff member on-site will guide you.

Join us for a day of tree planting at Maywood Environmental Park!

We will be planting 100 new trees in the park and we need your help. Instructions and tools will be provided. Please be prepared to work outdoors, digging, planting, mulching and fencing trees. Please dress for the weather in close toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. Please bring a water bottle, insect repellent and work gloves if you have them. Meet at Maywood Environmental Park at 3615 Mueller Road in Sheboygan in front of the Ecology Center for check-in, instruction and supplies, then head out to areas in the park for planting.

Waiver required for participation. (Is there a way for them to complete this prior to the day of the event?)

Rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, we will need to reschedule.

The ADRC of Sheboygan County provides Health & Wellness Outreach to senior citizens throughout the county.  Volunteer Leaders attend training for the workshop they are interested in leading, at no cost.  Programs include: Tai Chi (two different programs), Falls Prevention, Walking, Strength Training, and Technology (how to use a smartphone, etc.), among others.  Programs are scheduled at the discretion of the volunteer and community needs.  Volunteer may also assist with program marketing and related office duties.  Mileage reimbursement provided for training and program facilitation.  Both in-person and virtual training/delivery are available for most programs.

Rebuilding Together Sheboygan County (RTSC) is seeking a Project Volunteer to assist with home repair projects for our low-income homeowner clients. The Project Volunteer will work with other volunteers under the direction of a Project Lead to complete various handyman-level home repair projects. The Project Volunteer plays an important role in enabling our clients to continue to live in a safe, warm, and dry home. This volunteer position is ideal for individuals who have some home repair experience and are looking for ways to improve their skills while giving back to the community, with no long-term time commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Previous experience with home repairs, construction, or related trades
* Willingness and ability to learn new home repair skills
* Ability to work within a group to accomplish assigned tasks
* Ability to perform tasks as required by the nature of home repair work
* Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Pre-project Activities

* Respond to text/email requests from the RTSC Team Lead for volunteer support on a specific project. As a volunteer, you are free to accept or reject these requests at your discretion.
* Upon request, provide the Team Lead with an estimate of time and materials needed to complete assigned tasks.
* Coordinate with other team members to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.

Project Day

* Arrive at the client’s home on time and appropriately dressed for the tasks to be performed. In general, all volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes, an RTSC tee-shirt (provided), and other “work-type” clothing.
* Working with other volunteer team members, complete assigned tasks to the best of the team’s ability
* Follow all safety protocols; help monitor work area for potential hazards
* Help keep the work area clean and free of construction debris
* Ask for assistance and/or technical guidance when needed
* Ensure completed work meets professional standards and client expectations to the best of your ability

Administrative

* Notify the Project Lead of all hours worked.
* Notify RTSC or the Project Lead if you no longer wish to volunteer, or conversely, if you wish to take a more active role
* Participate in occasional team meetings as required

* Develop a project plan (task list, materials required, and budget estimate).
* Coordinate with the homeowner to ensure there is no misunderstanding about the work to be performed
* Coordinate with other RTSC personnel to obtain the necessary tools, materials, and labor

Project Day Leadership

* Serve as the primary RTSC representative on project days, overseeing all on-site activities
* Obtain a signed Homeowner Agreement from the homeowner prior to commencing any work
* Manage and support volunteers, assigning tasks by aptitude/abilities/interests, and ensuring volunteers have what they need to be successful
* Ensure completed work meets professional standards and client expectations
* Promote safe work practices and monitor the work site for potential hazards
* Document project outcomes, including before-and-after photos, volunteer hours, project cost, and materials used

Administrative

* Maintain accurate records of project activities, including volunteer participation, expenses, and project outcomes.
* Assist with budget tracking, expense reporting, and materials management.
* Participate in occasional team meetings as required

Habitat for Humanity Lakeside is bringing Rock the Block and all its energy to Plymouth!  This exciting neighborhood revitalization event brings together volunteers, homeowners, and community partners to make a lasting impact—addressing yard maintenance, beautification projects, and exterior home repairs of porches, railings, windows, roofs, and other critical home issues.

Promoting vibrancy through revitalization projects, Rock the Block aims to elevate our community with well-maintained neighborhoods where people and families thrive.  Affordable homeownership is essential in the foundation of generational wealth, and stemming from the successful Homebuyer Program at Habitat for Humanity Lakeside, we can extend beyond the portfolio of building new construction homes and expand into a neighborhood revitalization programs like Rock the Block to focus on areas in our community where homeowners may experience financial or physical insecurities to complete essential repairs on the exterior.

Stay at a campsite at the horse campground and volunteer a few hours per day. Greet and assist campers with information about the property and facilities. Assist in daily campground operations and set an example by being a model camper. Clean campsites, check facilities and assist with light maintenance. At Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, we are dedicated to providing comfort, dignity and quality care to individuals and families facing end-of-life challenges. As a volunteer you play a crucial role in this mission, offering companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance to patients and their loved one.

Hospice volunteer that goes to see patient when they are actively dying, they can provide comfort by sitting by a patient's bedside, reading to them, listening to music, or just by providing a calming presence. 

Volunteers needed to provide companionship and socialization to seniors on hospice. Activities may include playing games, listening to music, watching tv, church service, socializing, reading books, etc. 

The role of the Disaster Mental Health Service Associate (SA) or Worker is to serve as a member of a temporary work unit on a disaster relief operation to provide disaster mental health support to individuals and families who have been impacted by a disaster.

Initiate a Disaster Cycle Services relationship and engage the worker by providing assignments matching their motivation and interests, while filling Disaster Cycle Services open positions and meeting service delivery demands.

During weekly drop-in hours, you will work with Nourish staff to help with food prep and/or cleaning tasks that will vary from week to week. Tasks may include baking bread or muffins, making soups and sauces, cleaning and prepping produce, preparing pizza dough and toppings for community dinners. No culinary skills necessary! Staff will be present to provide recipes, training and support as needed.

Pine Haven Christian Communities is look for a volunteer bus driver. The driver must have a clean driving record. The driver must be willing to fill out the required paperwork including a background check. 

The volunteer would drive bus for life enrichment department on Tuesday afternoons for shopping trips, joyrides or ice-cream. You do not need a special license for this but experience in driving a 14 passenger bus or a larger vehicle would be preferable. The purpose of the Blood Donor Ambassador is to provide excellent and enthusiastic customer service to enhance the blood donor experience. Engage with blood donors to promote blood donation and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations. Assist donors with re-hydrating after donation and observe for post-donation reactions. Express gratitude and ensure each blood donor is sincerely thanked for their donation.

The Shelter (SH) Service Associate (SA) is a temporary position assigned to work in person in a Red Cross shelter before, during and/or after a disaster event. Shelter Service Associates complete tasks necessary for shelter operations and interacts with clients to ensure their needs are met. Shelter Service Associates support the day-to-day activities within a shelter, which can include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information or other areas within a shelter. 

Responsibilities vary depending on assignment.

The #1 disaster Red Cross responds to is a house fire. Disaster Response Volunteers (Disaster Action Team) train and respond to local communities immediately after a disaster. They provide emergency disaster assistance & hope to individuals and families affected by the disaster.

Qualifications:

Disasters happen day & night. The schedule varies (either on-call commitment or call down of volunteer roster). A disaster response can take 3-4 hours (on average). Number of responses vary per month based on urban vs rural geography.

The role of the Disaster Spiritual Care (DSC) Service Associate is to serve as a member of a temporary work unit on a disaster relief operation to provide disaster spiritual care support to individuals and families who have been impacted by a disaster.

Required:

Regional responses: Shift work determined by the scale of the relief operation; a minimum requirement of 8-12 hours per day during the disaster relief operation for multiple, consecutive days.

Beyond Regional responses: 12-14 hour days for extended periods depending on distance. Time and length of commitment will vary by operation.

Disaster Health Services (DHS) Service Associate (SA) is a temporary position assigned to work in person before, during and/or after a disaster event this hurricane/wildfire season. Volunteers in this role provide assistance and healthcare to shelter residents as needed.

Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are local, personal disasters like home fires. Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. Eating together is so valuable! Every Tuesday at 5 PM Lighthouse Recovery Community Center hosts a family dinner for peers connected with LRCC. This family dinner often serves 7-20 people. We invite individuals or small groups (2-6 people max) to prepare a meal. Preparation may be done onsite, or off. Serving and sharing in the meal are welcome, though optional. This is a wonderful way to get to know the peers and staff. Time commitment may range from 3-5 hours, depending on the meal. The onsite time commitment is much less if you decide to make the meal ahead and drop it off. Occasionally there is the opportunity to prepare a "holiday meal" that we share on an alternate day.

Art in Recovery is held on the first and third Friday of each month from 1:30-3:30 p.m. If you are an artisan willing to share/teach others the how-to, we invite you to select a Friday to join us at the center. The Recovery Services Client Care Program allows the Red Cross to rapidly meet disaster-caused needs by enabling clients to apply and receive financial assistance and/or community resources.

The Client Care Program Service Associate supports the recovery of disaster affected individuals, households, and communities by providing referrals, advocacy, and financial assistance through RC Care (case management system).

Each year, the Red Cross responds to an average of more than 60,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. With our coalition partners, we are working to help reduce death and injuries from home fires in high-risk communities. With your participation, we have the opportunity to make a difference in our communities and save lives tragically lost due to home fires. The Home Fire Campaign aims to save lives by installing smoke alarms and educating residents about home fire risk by providing home-safety checklists and plans in vulnerable neighborhoods. The purpose of this position is to implement Home Fire Campaign programming. Depending on the local situation, work may be done virtually or in-person.

Program is looking for volunteers to help facilitate on Wednesdays from 1:15 PM-2:30PM! 

Join us in making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s disease through the Ping Pong Parkinson program! This initiative uses the game of ping pong as a therapeutic tool to help improve motor skills, coordination, and overall well-being for those living with Parkinson’s.

What We’re Looking For: We are seeking compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about supporting individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Volunteers will assist in facilitating ping pong sessions, providing encouragement, and creating a positive and inclusive environment for participants.

We provide training to operate the Point of Sale system (iPad based) and information about the organization and current exhibits. There is also a manual for reference. A staff member is always available to assist.

We are currently presenting four programs for area schools and homeschools:

Full-Day Education programs offer students in grades 2-6 the opportunity to experience American History hands-on, through the lens of Sheboygan County. Open to public and private schools and homeschool groups, our Full-Day Education Programs run from 9:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and are designed to meet Wisconsin and District curriculum standards.

As an example, Our Civil War program offers five hours of hands-on and gallery activities. Students travel back to the time of the Civil War and learn about its impact on the lives of people in Sheboygan County. Students “enlist” in the Union Army, march with a model rifle, send telegraph messages, make a toy drum, carry a stretcher, try out crutches, design a flag, play period games, crawl into in a dog tent, sample chicory coffee, pose for a long-exposure photo, and much more. Volunteers make these activities possible, working alongside staff and other volunteers with groups of 3-8 students at a time.

As we ramp back up to serving more than 3,000 students annually, we need volunteers to help. No teaching experience necessary. We provide training and let you choose your interests. Pine Haven is looking for a volunteer to come transport residents from their rooms to our beauty shop at our Giddings Ave and Haven Dr campuses. Coverage is needs on varying Wednesday and Friday mornings. 

Residents will already be in their wheelchairs so you will not be doing any transferring, just simply pushing them to the salon....a great way to get some exercise in! This is also a really fun way to meet some amazing new people. While residents are getting their hair done you will be able to visit with them, hear their stories and definitely laugh with them!

JoinUs Hmong Cafe is a program that offers a free meal every Thursday. The meal is made from scratch and is culturally sensitive to our Hmong community while providing a new and educational experience for the rest of our community.

Many people don't know that the Humane Society of Sheboygan County hosts the adoptable cats at PetSmart in Grafton! We are urgently looking for cat caregivers at this location.

Volunteers here clean litterboxes and refresh cages, feed cats and refill water bowls, and provide important socialization and enrichment time. Our current urgent need is for Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday evenings, but other availability may be helpful, too!
