Volunteer: Support Group Facilitators - virtual

Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experience in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. The goal of support groups is to provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members.

Facilitator lead weekly or monthly webinar/teleconference meetings for family caregivers, adult children, spouses, or people living with dementia in the community. The groups are established in collaboration with the Alzheimer's Association staff and held virtually.

Community Educators are volunteer speakers who help provide live webinar education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs. Community Educators deliver Alzheimer's Association programs on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementia using prepared materials. 

These volunteers provide live webinar education programs scheduled by Association staff and help identify potential community partners and education venues using their established community networks. Community educators assure that the general public, caregivers and people living with Alzheimer's or dementia are linked to Alzheimer's Association programs and our free 24/7 Helpline. They are true partners with our staff and extend the reach of our programs to all communities.
