We’re looking for a dedicated Pantry Organizer to help keep our shelter’s food and supply pantry running smoothly. This volunteer will sort through donations, check expiration dates, organize shelves, and ensure items are easy for staff and residents to access. The role also includes transporting pantry items between our main storage area and the shelter as needed.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys organizing, pays attention to detail, and wants to make a tangible difference in supporting survivors and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

Sort, label, and organize pantry donations

Check for expired or damaged items

Restock shelves and maintain a clean, orderly space

Transport items between storage and the shelter as needed

Are you a compassionate person looking to provide support to survivors of violence in crisis? This may be the opportunity for you! We are looking for volunteers to come in for 4 hours at a time to help answer our crisis line. 

Who is a good fit for this volunteer opportunity?

- Someone who is comfortable under pressure, stress and listening to difficult experiences

- Someone who can pass an extensive background check

- Someone who is comfortable talking on the phone and learning procedures

- Someone willing to commit to 1 year of training and service, with 4 hours a week minimum 

This opportunity may not be a good fit for someone who:

- Has recently or currently experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault or other traumatic experiences, or has a loved one who has/is experiencing these things. 

- Cannot pass an extensive background check 

- Has a busy schedule and not able to commit time to training

- Is not comfortable answering or making phone calls on a frequent basis

- is uncomfortable in a fast paced and stressful environment

Safe Harbor needs groups of 5+ volunteers throughout the year to help keep our shelter and office spaces clean and organized! Let us know what date and time works best for your team, and we will work with you to have a fun, educational and rewarding group volunteer experience. 

Who we need: Groups of community volunteers who are kind, compassionate and enjoy getting your hands dirty!

What we need: Set a date and time for your group to come to Safe Harbor for an hour to a full day to help keep our shelter, storage spaces and offices clean! If you are interested in coming in with a smaller group or solo to do a day of deep cleaning, we'd appreciate that too!

Tasks include vacuuming, cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sanitizing countertops and tables, washing mirrors and windows, cleaning our shelter kitchen and living room spaces. Other opportunities may include light landscaping/yard work, painting, sorting donations, passing out event or program materials in the community and more!

Requirements: A short Volunteer Orientation for your group with our Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator

Do you enjoy organizing? Or maybe you thrive in processing items?! Come as an individual worker or grab a team player and spend a day at Safe Harbor processing, organizing and sorting donated items! Safe Harbor receives a plentiful of in-kind donations from generous donators. These donated items include food, hygiene products, basic needs, clothes and many more. We are looking for community members to help amplify our work and support Safe Harbor by interacting with us on social media! Safe Harbor uses virtual platforms to share information about domestic violence and sexual assault, community resources, special events and more. 

How can you help? First, you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram. As posts come up on your feed, interact with them by giving a "like" or another reaction. You can also share posts on your personal account, post it in a local group, comment, or even tag a friend who might be interested in learning more. 

We also are looking for volunteers to help create posts and content for our social media accounts. This includes graphic design and research under staff guidance. Both opportunities are great for busy folks!

Every "like" counts in our efforts to bring awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault to our communities!

Who we need: Someone who is kind, caring and enjoys cleaning!

What we need: Stop by Safe Harbor once a week for an hour or two to help keep our offices clean! If you are interested in coming in with a group or solo to do a day of deep cleaning, we'd appreciate that too!

Tasks include vacuuming, cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sanitizing countertops and tables, washing mirrors and windows, cleaning our shelter kitchen and living room spaces

Requirements: Attending a half-hour Volunteer Orientation, passing a background check, and a short walk through with our Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator

Who we need: Someone who is kind, compassionate and an experienced lawyer or attorney.

What we need: Providing pro bono legal knowledge for survivors of domestic violence. Many people we serve have legal concerns related to civil or family court, such as divorce, child custody, and immigration issues. Our advocates need additional support in answering difficult or complex questions around these issues.

Requirements: Attending a one hour Volunteer Orientation, passing a background check, and a short walk through with our Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator

Experience with civil/family court process is very helpful but not necessary!
