Dogs2DogTags

Who We Are

Founded in 2016, Dogs2DogTags has been serving Wisconsin veterans by providing service dog and companion dog training at no cost to those who have served. Every day, far too many veterans die by suicide. At Dogs2DogTags, our mission is to **save our vets one dog at a time** by helping veterans build life-changing partnerships with dogs. Veterans who participate in our program tell us they cope better with symptoms of PTSD and anxiety, gain a renewed sense of purpose, and experience a higher quality of life. Along the way, we've created a healing community where veterans with shared experiences train, encourage, and support one another. For both veterans and their dogs, Dogs2DogTags has become a happy place—one they look forward to returning to several times each week. Whether assisting with events, administrative projects, marketing, facility upkeep, or other behind-the-scenes support, our volunteers play an essential role in making that healing community possible.

What We Do

We train rescued and donated dogs and we give them to veterans facing PTSD and anxiety. The veteran-dog team continues training with us towards service dog and/or therapy dog status, or a highly-trained canine companion. We also work with veterans who already own a dog working towards a service or therapy dog. There is no cost for a veteran to receive a dog from us or to train with us for their entire life. We also offer financial assistance to veterans, and provide free dog supplies, dog food, veterinary care, and dog medications for the first year following a dog placement.
