Who We Are

  • Intervention Services Provide victims with safety, support, information and resources to empower and encourage victims to exercise control over their lives and prepare to move forward without violence.  Among these services is a 24-hr crisis line that offers counseling and information and referral services, temporary safe shelter, peer support groups, transportation, court and hospital advocacy, and assistance with emergency needs.  These services are available to all Sheboygan County residents.  We work to make them easily accessible through our 800 number, Spanish and Hmong program information available, offering support groups at a variety of times and locations, having a barrier-free office and shelter, and providing translators and interpreters available for non-English speaking and hearing impaired victims.
  • Prevention Services focus on helping individuals understand and develop attitudes, skills and behaviors which will minimize the risk of becoming either a victim or a perpetrator.  We believe the support groups and educational programs offered are essential to community prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Prevention programs include presentation topics covering a wide range of content. Topics include: recognizing and developing healthy relationships, healthy dating and tips on sexual assault prevention.  Prevention programs are offered w/ age appropriate content, for adolescents, teens and adults, including those with developmental disabilities and mental illness.  A large part of prevention of continued SA and DV is a plan and a strong support system.   In our Transitional Living Program (TLP) we provide transitional services to make the change to living a life free of violence.  Included in this program is safe housing, financial assistance, on-going case management, and outreach supportive services.  These services provide resources, information and education to achieve safety and self-sufficiency.
  • Education Services involve informing the community about the impact of domestic abuse and sexual assault and of the options and services available to victims.  In addition to providing information about Safe Harbor services, educational include presentations about domestic abuse, dating violence, sexual harassment to adults in community groups and organizations throughout the county, to students in schools and youth groups.  Our staff also trains other community professionals about how to identify and provide services to domestic abuse and sexual assault victims.  Printed information is distributed throughout the county. Specialized activities are held each April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We are looking for volunteers that can provide an ongoing commitment for a least a year. We will train you along the way.

Safe Harbor also has internship opportunists as well. Please reach out if you have any questions.
