History:

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Sheboygan was chartered by a group of 52 public-spirited Sheboygan businessmen on April 15, 1921. It has met weekly at various locations in downtown Sheboygan, most recently Wednesdays at noon at City Streets Restaurant. It merged with its daughter Southwest kiwanis Club in 1997 and membership is currently about 65 men and women of all ages and vocations, who find that they can do more in service to Sheboygan as a group than they can do individually.

The major emphasis in the past decade has been on service projects related to youth, including distribution of a Parenting Newsletter to parents of all children born in Sheboygan County, a Vocational Scholarship Awards Program in the SASD, Project 98, a home-building project in the SHS, and support through the Club's Charitable Foundation of organizations such as the Above and Beyond Children's Museum, Boys and Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County, and support of Camp Wawbeek at Wisconsin Dells, a camp for handicapped children.

What We Do

"We Build." We build better futures for those we serve, and we build ourselves through what we do and through our fellowship.

Our motto is "We Build", and the purpose of Kiwanis is "to give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than the material values of life. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. To promote the adoption and application of higher social, business and professional standards. To develop, by precept and example a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.  To provide through Kiwanis Clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, to build better communities, and to cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism; which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.
