Details: We will meet at 9:00am at the Sanderling Nature Center off of Beach Park Ln. The main focus of the day is to hand-pull invasive knapweed, and if needed, bag the pulled plants to prevent developed seeds from remaining on site. Besides controlling the invasive species, I would like to talk a little about the history of the property, why it was set aside as a State Natural Area, and about the endangered pitcher thistle, and other State Threatened plants. Ideally, it will be a learning opportunity for everyone and also a productive day controlling knapweed. NHC will provide the bags, sunscreen, bug spray, and will have water available for all the volunteers. Interested individuals would need to bring gloves and wear appropriate work clothes (pants, long-sleeves, sunglasses, boots.)
