Description

Join the Burdock Squad and help wage war on one of camp's most persistent weeds! Burdock may seem harmless, but its prickly burrs can cling to clothing, shoes, and horse tails, making it an ongoing challenge throughout Camp Anokijig's trails, fields, and riding areas.

Volunteers will work together to cut down and gather burdock before it goes to seed, helping protect our natural spaces and create a more enjoyable experience for hikers, horseback riders, campers, and guests. It's a simple but incredibly valuable project that makes a noticeable difference across camp.

What to Bring:

  • Work gloves (optional. Camp will provide any without)

  • Closed-toe shoes or sturdy boots

  • Long pants (suggested with the potential of poison ivy, etc.)

  • Sunscreen & bug spray

We'll provide the tools and guidance needed for the day. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to get outdoors and tackle this invasive plant with fellow volunteers.

Every burdock plant removed helps keep Camp Anokijig's forests, fields, and trails healthier, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone who visits. Join the Burdock Squad and help us win the battle against burrs, one plant at a time!
